Luxury L-shaped kitchen in a contemporary New Jersey home

WHEN KITCHEN DESIGN MEETS ARCHITECTURE

Architecture and Design Work In Harmony In A Luxury New Jersey Kitchen

For our latest featured project, MandiCasa New York kitchen showroom’s designer, Maria Filimonova took on the challenge to design a luxury kitchen that would complement the layout of a new residence in Franklin Lakes, NJ.

The house’s contemporary architecture, which stands out in the traditional New Jersey neighborhood, presents an interesting L-shaped kitchen as its focal point, connecting living room and dining area. It is a gorgeous airy space which enjoys abundant natural light coming from rows of almost ceiling-height windows.

The details of the kitchen were meticulously studied to echo its surroundings in both layout and aesthetics.

A Modern Kitchen Layout

The design follows the architectural geometry of the home, arranging all functional elements in an L shape: storage and integrated appliances on one side, cooktop unit on the other with the island in front housing the sink.

Viewed from the living room, the kitchen remains perfectly framed within the square arch that joins the two spaces. Once inside the kitchen, the parallel lines of the wall unit and island lead straight into the dining area.

A Luxury Kitchen Aesthetic Matching The Architecture Of The Home

Aesthetically, the upscale kitchen cabinets with integrated handles of MandiCasa’s Yota collection are a great fit with the style of the home. They enrich the interior and blend with it at the same time.

  • The Ambra metallic lacquer finish interacts with the light creating a soft shine, while the Elm wood featured on the upper cabinets adds a warm touch.
  • The white Quartz used for the front of the island matches the color palette of the living room, becoming an effortless chromatic bridge between the two spaces.
  • The frames of the glass cabinets and the wine cooler and open shelves bookending the composition provide the black accents to mirror the finish used for the windows and the living room ceiling.

Glass cabinets and open shelves – a must-have in luxury kitchen design – give the client a curated place to showcase stemware, crystals, and objects of decor, all arranged in tasteful fashion. These sophisticated displays are seen from both the dining area and the living room, elevating the look of the kitchen and of the entire environment.

A Pantry Room Worth Keeping In Sight

Behind the kitchen, in the corner, is a pantry room. The choice here was to keep this space visible at all times, without hiding it behind a door.

Functionally, this solution adds depth to the design and makes the pantry an integral part of the kitchen conceived for frequent access. It is a dedicated nook not only for storage but also to house (and use) small appliances, so they don’t clutter the kitchen’s countertop.

Visually, the pantry was studied to keep in perfect syntony with the rest of the space. Here, too, are MandiCasa’s Yota cabinets in Ambra metallic lacquer and Elm wood laid out – once again – in an L shape. The opening to the room is framed by a black contour to match the black details throughout the space. Inside, MandiCasa’s black Palo open shelves continue this visual pattern.

Architecture and design came together in total harmony in this luxury New Jersey kitchen. Essential to the end result were the project team’s keen eye for detail and the flexibility of MandiCasa’s Italian cabinetry, which offered a canvas to bring the client’s vision to life.
